Canoeing at Eklutna Lake

Over Labor Day Mark and I decided to dust off my Dad's canoe and go to Eklutna lake about 40 minutes north of town. It turned out to be a lot of fun and beautiful. The aspen and cottonwood trees were just beginning to turn yellow. We grabbed the 5 Arby's orignial sandwhiches for $5.95 and headed out of town. It was a little bit overcast with the sun peaking out every now and then. The wind wasn't too bad so it made for a pleasant day.
Mark did most of the paddling and steering of the boat. I enjoyed the scenery and paddled as long as my belly and arms would allow. Mark is a great sport!
Beautiful view of the lake before we set out.

Good thing this is a very light weight collapsable canoe. The subaru was a champ at carrying it! A regular canoe never would have worked with the pregnant lady having to haul it around.

Another fun adventure in Alaska!
