Juneau

Mark has been working in Juneau for the past 4 weeks. Hunter and I went to visit for a few days and got to visit Mark's cousins family.

 Nathan and Donna took us on a tour of downtown Juneau.  This is a bear statue in front of the capital building.

 We went for a self-guided tour inside and checked out all the different senate and house rooms.

 We took a picture in front of this room because it is the Audit room. It was the only room where someone was actually working on Saturday. Mark will have to stay away from that job!

 We went to a museum and learned about the mining around Juneau. That was until Hunter decided he liked to hear his own loud voice and we promptly left.

 This picture is for my nephews. It was a whole village made completely out of Legos. The train in the front circles around when you push a button outside the window. I guess the guy does it each year, purely for fun.

 I could think of some boys who would think that was fun!

 In the library there is a beautiful stained glass window. The library is on top of a parking garage and is literally on the water where the big cruise ships come in during the summer.

 After delicious Juneau fudge, some hot chocolate, and driving around the govenor's mansion we headed to the Mendenhall glacier.  It was beautiful and so close to where Nathan and Donna live!

 On Sunday after church we went to this beautiful church/ shrine of St. Theresa. It was out on a little peninsula and luckily surrounded by trees because on the walk out there we were nearly blown over.

 We heard and then saw some sea lions while we were there. See their little heads popping up.

 Here's Mark, Hunter, Nathan, and Donna is behind her camera. I really wish we had gotten some pictures all together. Maybe Donna has some good ones on her camera, Mark will be bringing a CD home to me soon. 

 They have a Mini Cooper that was really fun to drive around in. It was surprisingly roomy and comfortable for such a small car.

 Here is the glacier on a sunnier day. Mark talked his co-workers into going to see it on a lunch break.

 And here was just a little of the fun we had at the Leigh's house. 

 Hunter loved their dog Sadie and loved playing in all the cupboards and with the DVDs and just about anything else he could get his hands on. Their home wasn't baby proof (their son is 14) so we were kept busy cleaning up after him! He also started walking while we were there. Abram (their son) let him play with his computer mouse and would hold onto the cord and Hunter began to walk more than ever!

We enjoyed lots of good meals, played games, went to the aquarium of Alaskan native fish, and just had a wonderful time. I look forward to visiting now sometime in the summer!
